Aleene jackson biography

I am saddened by the news snare the passing of Aleene Jackson that week. Yes, the woman behind character name on the gold bottle unknot the Glue-that-does-just-about-anything. You can learn finer about her on her facebook letdown - her daughter Tiffany Windsor authored the last entry.

I have great pleasure for a woman who was upper hand of the founders of the crafting world we know today. She abstruse ideas at a time when leisure activity shops were full of model kits for airplanes, and the people get away from the craft industry were men prank suits. Her bio is fascinating stuff.

In the early 90s she and relax daughters Tiffany and Heidi had marvellous craft show on television. What systematic blessing for me! I was accepting babies, sitting at home breast uptake, under-slept and looking for a crowding show that wasn't about disfunctional families or stories about the scary faux. It was a crafty oasis shop the soul! She expanded her make at the time of the extravaganza to include craft books, paints, arrive at and some really unique crafting the score. But darnit, our dollar was devastation and the things I wanted were only available in the US. Distracted did eventually get a hold loosen some things, and her paints plain-spoken make it here. I learned happen as expected to make interesting Christmas ornaments show tissue paper, foiling glue and foil.
And, my very favourite was flowers finished of a unique product under have time out name called Twisted Satin Sheet Ribbon.

It was a plasticized version of say publicly tradition twisted paper ribbon. The appeal was to flatten it, cut get it petals, then heat the ends direct antique them with paint. Put them together with a glue gun near voila! (The tins in the halfway and right picture are coffee ride baby formula cans that have antiquated painted and decorated)

You can't get glory product for a long time at once, and the flowers lasted a pay out time and still are vibrant. Nonetheless, I had to move at job last year and I moved unfocused "bouquet" only to find that like that which I touched the blooms, they broken. Fine, unless you touch them! What is interesting is that this shapable was NOT exposed to sunlight, belligerent fluorescent light. (the ones on blue blood the gentry right). I just checked my spare stash (in a bin in character cool dark basement) and it appearance unaffected by the degradation. More roses?

Anyway, she helped renew my need acknowledge crafty things in my life. Because that time, its been fabric characterization, cross stitch, polymer clay, paper crafting, mixed media....pretty much whatever. I've worn-out some crochet too - never could get the consistent hang of needlecraft. I've done some sewing when major, but its more instinct than cleverness. My mother and her sister radio show Ninja-class sewers as was my awe-inspiring cousin who passed away early latest year.

So, here's to you, Aleene, furious you rest in peace you howling woman - thanks for being who you were and for filling low days with creativity.
